Milton H. Erickson (1901-1980) was one of the most influential figures in psychotherapy and has had a particular impact on the development of many of the brief approaches to therapy, such as MRI brief therapy (Watzlawick, Weakland & Fisch, 1974; Fisch, Weakland & Segal, 1982), Strategic Therapy (Haley, 1986), and Solution-focused therapy (de Shazer, 1985). Many of the contributions of Erickson’s work still reverberate through systemic therapies.
